Got the Obamacare Notice in the Mail

I'm sure the notice is to prepare us for the hikes to come thanks to the unAffordable Care Act also known as Obamacare. The crappiest law ever passed in our nation's history.

Hubby's employer states that the cost of their healthcare plans will increase $7.4 million in 2014. We are sitting here wondering how much of that cost will be passed on to us in paying higher portions of premiums, having our deductibles, copays and OOP maxes increased yet again.... I suppose we shouldn't expect a raise, either? No, wait, the left expects the company to eat the extra costs.

I'm sure the lefties are going to post comments about corporate greed and how obamacare isn't really even in effect yet. Because we all know corporations lie and never care about their employees. In fact, the left seems to think they want unhappy employees making their products, selling and designing their products..... because we all know unhappy employees give them more bang for their buck.

The left lacks the ability to use any search engine to search "Obamacare timeline", apparently.

Pics from the document we received - with the company name marked out. Let's defund this law!

Help Us Defund Obamacare!

Please help us defund, delay and defeat Obamacare! Share this meme of Facebook and Twitter!

This is the last chance we have to stop Obamacare. The 3 North Carolina voting members of the RNC brought a resolution to defund Obamacare up to the RNC. It passed the RNC unanimously! Speaker Boehner needs to hear from you that you support the Republican Party's resolution to defund Obamacare AND that you expect him to lead the fight to defund Obamacare through the Continuing Resolution (CR). He must stand with his own party!

The House can defund Obamacare through the CR while still funding the rest of government. Defunding Obamacare will NOT cause a government shutdown. Ask him to stand with Senator Mike Lee, Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Mark Meadows in the fight to defund Obamacare.

Call the Speaker's office: 877-976-7521 (use the 877 number because ForAmerica is tracking the number of calls made to his office using this number)

  • Remind him that his own party passed a resolution UNANIMOUSLY to defund Obamacare. Tell him to STAND with the us and the RNC resolution.
  • Also remind him that we the people have spoken- we send our wishes up through the party- he doesn't tell us what we want- we tell him what WE want! And we want Obamacare defunded!
  • Tell Mr. Speaker that we know defunding Obamacare does not cause a shut down. If he has questions, he can contact Freedomworks, Heritage Foundation or other conservative think tanks that have researched this!
  • The People's House controls the purse by design! Use YOUR voice to let them know they must not fund Obamacare in the CR!
Also send him an email through the Speaker's website letting him know you want Obamacare defunded through the CR:

We need  the tsunami of phone calls and emails that Senator Ted Cruz asked us to make. We can Defund, delay and defeat Obamacare!

I spoke at 4 town halls across North Carolina in the last week and a half- we are not alone! Hundreds and hundreds of people came to each town hall and want obamacare defunded! Join us in the fight! 80 Patriots showed up on a work day to protest at Senator Richard Burr's office to let him know what we thought of his "dumbest idea": comment! Pass this along to your friends and ask them to call and email the Speaker, as well!We can win this fight!

Lastly, pray for us- Sept 16-18, I am going with a few other moms to meet with our representatives and Senators. We are also going to visit every single office in Congress and ask them to defund Obamacare.

Town Hall in Wilmington, NC

I was invited to speak at the defund obamacare town hall in Wilmington, NC Tuesday night. 300 patriots showed up.  It was amazing. Join this grassroots movement to defund obamacare !

My Video Message to Speaker Boehner

Got Government Healthcare?

Just another quick video I threw together...people who already have government run healthcare had problems in the past-all made worse by Obamacare.

More on Obamacare

I decided to refute some of the claims made by the left on my last video. Here's what I put together:

CALL TO ACTION! Call and Email Speaker Boehner!

Call and email Speaker Boehner's office (see number and email below) and let him know you support the resolution to defund #Obamacare that passed the RNC UNANIMOUSLY! Let him know that WE THE PEOPLE tell him what we want and that he doesn't get to tell us what we want! We want to #defundobamacare through the CR without shutting down the government. The People's House controls the purse strings BY DESIGN! The House can pass a CR to fund the government without funding Obamacare and thus no government shutdown. Do this today and start again tomorrow!   877-976-7521 Email him via this link, too:

Sample Tweets to send to Speaker Boehner:

@SpeakerBoehner the RNC unanimously passed a resolution to #defundobamacare WE the PEOPLE tell you what WE want!YOU represent us! Defund it!

Defund Obamacare Town Hall: Winston-Salem, NC

The Winston-Salem Journal reported that 180 people showed up for our 5th and 12th NC Congressional districts town hall this past Monday. That means we had at least 225, since the Journal always underestimates our numbers!

None of our representatives or senators showed up. Virginia Foxx wrote a letter. We had Dean Clancy from Freedomworks speak about the defund movement. Defund, delay and defeat are the 3 points he made.

Two candidates for Senate came out to speak: Greg Brannon and Heather Grant. Vince Coakley, considering a run in the 12th also spoke. Bill Flynn was our MC.

A few pictures from the night:
Me with Greg Brannon, candidate for US Senate 2014

We had a nice crowd, more people to the left not on screen:

Burr Protest: Defund Obamacare

Monday, we had 80 patriots show up outside of Richard Burr's office to ask the   Senator to defund obamacare. We had lots of honks in support. An ambulance even sounded sirens in support. This day was the first time I'd ever been flipped off 20 times. By the same person. Ha ha

Here are a few pics from 8-19-2013:

20K in OOP Medical

As of August 12, we are $60 shy of reaching 20K in OOP medical. $19,940.33. I've been busy planning protests of Richard Burr and planning a local town hall & had not had the time to update. I leave with my youngest for appointments in Atlanta we'll be crossing that 20K mark soon enough!

Liberals: is Obamacare and not corporate greed. Read my earlier posts about our life between 2005-2010- where was the corporate greed then? You've got to ask yourselves "What in obamacare makes corporations even greedier?", if that is all you can give me is that all our woes are caused by corporate greed! AND, if Obamcare makes the greed worse, you should be on our side to repeal it- just sayin'.  #defundobamacare before it defunds my family and our nation!

Nasty Things Liberals Do

Slashed my tire a few months ago. Last night took off my bumper stickers and threw them on my hood. They've keyed my car, hissed at me, attacked me and my kids in public because they didn't like our conservative shirts. The last picture is one my friend texted me she came out and a liberal left a note on her car.

I am absolutely amazed at the feedback from the video I threw together in just a few minutes! It's not professional, no teleprompter, just a few bullet notes..... less than 24 hrs later and it has 1,091 views. Who knew videos would have a larger impact than anything else I have ever done!?

As we are working on the Summer Slam to DEFUND Obamacare, a friend suggested that I make a quick video- literally one hour later, I was uploading to YouTube.  Thank you all so much for your comments and for sharing my video! I personally think I look like a dork, but hey--I'm willing to look like a dork if I can get the message out about what Obamacare is doing to my family. My children deserve better and I will fight for them.

Video: How Obamacare Harms my Family With Sick KIds

Message from a Nurse on Obamacare

I had to share this one because it is much like the message from our non-political doctor on Obamacare. It is shocking. A nurse writes:

"Just want you to know that as a nurse in the hospital I am right there with you about this NON Affordable Care Act. Hospitals and doctor's offices all over this country are dying. You cannot offer more free services, get paid less or not at all for your usual services, be sued frivolously constantly, offer every employee health insurance, and at the same time install government mandated computer systems that require multimillion dollar security software and dozens of IT people to manage it. I cannot tell you how many extra hours I spend at the computer anymore. I should have gone into IT!"

She went on to say, "We appreciate your constant activism. We often live in fear of speaking out as our jobs are literally on the line. Did you hear about Vanderbilt's massive layoff? Vanderbilt of all places!"

How Obamacare is Hurting My Family & Families Like Ours

Obamacare hurts families with sick kids like mine. This is a short list of some of the many ways it has impacted my family. I have 2 things I must say before proceeding with my list. We visited Kay Hagan's DC office in March 2013 and here we are 5 1/2 months later and the senator has not replied to my obamacare concerns- not even with a form letter. Also, in 2005, my hubby's employer covered all of my children's pre-existing conditions without a HIPAA letter or Obamacare.

  • Between 2005 and 2010, our deductible increased $50. Since the passage of Obamacare, it has increased $1,200.
  • From 2005-2011, our insurance covered 85% of medical costs/claims. They now only cover 80% of costs/claims.
  • In 2009 and 2010, our premiums stayed the same. Since the passage of Obamacare, our premiums have increased $1,528/yr. Where's the $2,500 decrease Obama keeps telling us about?
  • Our out of pocket maximum increased a total of $500 between 2005-2010. Since Obamacare passed, our out of pocket maximum has increased $1,500.
  • A medication protecting my son's kidneys from damage had a copay of $131 from 2005-2010. Since Obamacare passed, that copay skyrocketed to $532.
  • In 2005-2010, we paid 4-5K per year in prescription copays. Now, in 2013, we are on target to pay $10,000 in prescription copays for the same medications. As of August 12, 2013, we have already paid $5,775.42 for prescriptions this year.
  • A blood product my son infuses weekly has had a 100% increase in the copay. Granted, the copay is still affordable, but from 2005-2010, the copay remained the same. The 100% copay increase since the passage of obamacare speaks volumes.
  • The drop in flex spending from $5,000 to $2,500 increased our tax rate. We used  the $2.500 on our flex spending account before the end of January 2013. Because flex dollars are taken pre-tax, it decreases our taxable income and helps families like ours with seemingly insurmountable medical bills.
  • The decreased ability to deduct medical expenses will harm our family this year. Obamacare raised it from 7.5% AGI to 10%AGI. This is a tax increase my family and families like mine cannot afford. As an example, a family making $100,000 dollars couldn't deduct the first $7,500 in medical expenses, now that same family cannot deduct the first $10,000 in medical expenses.
  • In 2006, my son had neurosurgery and we had 4 other surgical procedures and our OOP medical was around 16K that year. We've already passed up 19K in out of pocket medical as of August 12, 2013 for 2013 alone and we've not had near the number of procedures as we've had in previous years.  We've had many years where we've had 4 and 5 surgical procedures and we've never been at 19K at this point in the year.
  • We've had doctors who never wanted to talk about politics or obamacare tell us, "This is the worst it has ever been in the 24 years I have been here, It's miserable, horrible, it's collapsing."
  • After 17 years of chronic illness, frequent hospital visits and doctor appointments, we can tell you that there has been a sharp decline in the quality and efficiency of care.
  • Costs have increased because of the medical device tax- from the catheters my son uses every four hours to the pump he uses to infuse his meds to the medical supplies delivered by home health that are also taxed.
This is just a list off the top of my head of the many ways we are negatively affected by Obamacare.

August Summer Slam to #Defundobamacare - Tsunami

The August Summer Slam to #DefundObamacare Continues
Today's Action to Stop Obamacare

This week we start the "tsunami" of phone calls, emails, tweets, facebook posts and office visits to our members of Congress, giving them the determination they need to defund Obamacare on the Continuing Resolution in September. Use hastags #summerslam and #defundobamacare on FB and in your Tweets.

Ted Cruz asked us for a tsunami - let's give it to him.

Flood our members of Congress and insist they keep their campaign promises, uphold the law, and give us the same protection against the ACA which they have given to themselves.

Include House leadership in this flood of contacts with your own senators and representative - John Boehner, Eric Cantor and Kevin McCarthy need to hear from all of us as much as our own reps do.

Obamacare Penalizes Charitable Hospitals

Father Z had a great piece on his blog. You can read it here.I cut and pasted it below:

Catch-22 for Catholic Hospitals under Obamacare

You are a homeless person.  You are sick and you know it is bad.  You stagger into the ER of St. Ipsidipsy Catholic Hospital in Tall Tree Circle.  You have no insurance, health coverage, or money.  You are seen by a doctor and treated.
The Obama Administration then punishes the hospital for treating you, a person without government-approved obligatory Obamacare.
From the Daily Caller:
Obamacare installs new scrutiny, fines for charitable hospitals that treat uninsured people
Charitable hospitals that treat uninsured Americans will be subjected to new levels of scrutiny of their nonprofit status and could face sizable new fines under Obamacare.
A new provision in Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code, which takes effect under Obamacare, sets new standards of review and installs new financial penalties for tax-exempt charitable hospitals, which devote a minimum amount of their expenses to treat uninsured poor people. Approximately 60 percent of American hospitals are currently nonprofit.
Charity for the uninsured is one of the factors that could discourage enrollment in Obamacare, which requires all Americans to purchase health insurance or else face new taxes themselves from the IRS. [You all get that, right?]
“It requires tax-exempt hospitals to do a community needs survey and file additional paperwork with the IRS every three years. This is to prove that the charitable hospital is still needed in their geographical area — ‘needed’ as defined by Obamacare and overseen by IRS bureaucrats,” said John Kartch, spokesman for Americans for Tax Reform.
Failure to comply, or to prove this continuing need, could result in the loss of the hospital’s tax-exempt status. The hospital would then become a for-profit venture, paying income tax — hence the positive revenue score” for the federal government, Kartch said. “Obamacare advocates turned over every rock to find as much tax money as possible.” [Sly, no?]
Additionally, the rise in the number of insured Americans under Obamacare will make it more difficult for tax-exempt hospitals to continue meeting required thresholds for treating the uninsured, driving more hospitals into the for-profit category and yielding more taxable money for the federal government.
“The requirements generally apply to any section 501(c)(3) organization that operates at least one hospital facility,” according to a “Technical Explanation” report of new Obamacare provisions prepared by the congressional Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) on March 21, 2010, the day Obamacare passed.
Obamacare’s new requirements could slam hospitals with massive $50,000 fines if they fail to meet bureaucrats’ standards.
Read the rest there.
So, the Obama Administration forces everyone to get health coverage, but for a non-profit hospital to maintain its non-profit status, it has to treat a minimum number of those without coverage.  But that pool of people will shrink dramatically, thus driving hospitals into the taxable category.
Good grief.
“Good morning, ma’am!  We’re from the government and we’re here to help!”

Tea Party Catholic Book

The book titled, "Tea Party Catholic" isn't out yet, but when it hits the shelves, I may have to get a copy. Check it out on Amazon here.

Here is the description:

Over the past fifty years, increasing numbers of American Catholics have abandoned the economic positions associated with Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal and chosen to embrace the principles of economic freedom and limited government: ideals upheld by Ronald Reagan and the Tea Party movement but also deeply rooted in the American Founding. This shift, alongside America’s growing polarization around economic questions, has generated fierce debates among Catholic Americans in recent years. Can a believing Catholic support free markets? Does the Catholic social justice commitment translate directly into big government? Do limited government Catholic Americans have something unique to contribute to the Church’s thinking about the economic challenges confronting all Catholics around the globe?

In Tea Party Catholic, Samuel Gregg draws upon Catholic teaching, natural law theory, and the thought of the only Catholic Signer of America’s Declaration of Independence, Charles Carroll of Carrollton—the first “Tea Party Catholic”—to develop a Catholic case for the values and institutions associated with the free economy, limited government, and America’s experiment in ordered liberty. Beginning with the nature of freedom and human flourishing, Gregg underscores the moral and economic benefits of business and markets as well as the welfare state’s problems. Gregg then addresses several related issues that divide Catholics in America. These include the demands of social justice, the role of unions, immigration, poverty, and the relationship between secularism and big government.

Above all, Gregg underlines how economic freedom’s corrosion in America is undermining the United States’ robust commitment to religious liberty—a principle integral not only to the American Founding and the life of Charles Carroll but also the teaching of the Second Vatican Council. As a creative minority, Gregg argues, limited government Catholics can help transform the wider movement to reground the United States upon the best insights of the American Experiment—and thereby save that Experiment itself.

Invite Your NC Senators and Representatives to Our Town Hall

We have scheduled a Town Hall meeting for August 19th at 6pm. Many Senators and Representatives are not having town halls this summer break- that's where you come in- we need YOU to write to them and ask them to show up. They need to meet with their constituents!  Use this sample letter below and email/mail/fax it to your Senators and Representative.

Dear [Senator, Rep]

Please be aware that the citizens of the 5th and 12th Districts have scheduled a Town Hall meeting for Aug. 19th at 6 PM in Winston Salem at Forsyth Tech Bolton Campus. We would like to invite [Sen/ Rep.] to attend and hear from the citizens as well as speak to the citizens. Our primary concern, at this time, is the movement in the US Congress to DEFUND ObamaCare. We would love to hear from Sen. , Rep, and to learn where he/she stands on this very important issue.

We are asking our Sens, Reps, to lend their full support to the Defund ObamaCare movement.
We are asking [Rep ------] to sign the letter by Rep. Mark Meadows in which he says, “In light of the Administration’s recent delay of the employer mandate and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) scandal, it is imperative, now more than ever, that Congress do everything in its power to halt the implementation of the healthcare law,” Meadows writes. “It is entirely unacceptable that the IRS, a government agency that actively discriminates against Americans, is in charge of implementing a law that Americans do not want.”

We are asking [Sen. Burr/Hagan] to join with Sen Mike Lee in pledging to stop this ObamaCare Monster. Known as the Affordable Health Care Act, this disaster is anything but affordable and is a catalyst to destroy the world's best health Care system.

We encourage [Sen/Rep] to join us for this Town Hall Meeting to explain his/her position on this very important issue.

I would like to ask for a response to this letter and I thank you in advance for a prompt reply.
