Think we don't need guns to protect us from law enforcement? One need not look further than the 1946 Battle of Athens. A sheriff, his deputies and a senator tried to rig the election. Shot a citizen and removed the ballot boxes from the polling place. Armed citizens saved the day and restored integrity to the election.
