First Amendment Defense Act TweetFest

Tomorrow, The House Oversight and Government Reform (OGR) Committee will have public hearings on the First Amendment Defense Act.

This hearing is the first step to getting to our goal: a full House vote on FADA.

Chairman Jason Chaffetz and the other Republican committee members need to hear from you on the need to pass FADA out of committee. Heritage Action is hosting a Tweetfest tomorrow from 12-2pm using the hashtag #VoteonFADA

#AllLivesMatter

#AllLivesMatter Don't play into the hands of the media or ANY group. When we pro-lifers stand for life, we stand for ALL lives. We are out there for unborn babies of all races. We do not differentiate. We are out there for ALL mothers and their babies regardless of race, religion, political affiliation, social status, marital status or economic status. In my opinion, using a hashtag differentiating a race of people that "matter" is race baiting. Period. It is NOT unifying. It is divisive. Let's stop the hate and divisiveness by realizing we are all part of the HUMAN RACE.
All lives matter no matter sex, race, religion or how a person identifies. Every person on the planet is created in the image and likeness of God.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO AGREE WITH PEOPLE FOR THEIR LIVES TO MATTER. Republican lives matter, Democrat lives matter, Libertarian lives matter, Unaffiliated lives matter, progressive lives matter, conservative lives matter....... get where I am going with this? All lives matter. Lawyer lives matter, stay at home mom lives matter, pilot lives matter, preacher lives matter, police lives matter, trash collector lives matter, teacher lives matter..... how many hashtags can we come up with to divide people into groups of lives that matter? An infinite number. Piano player lives matter, too, you know!
Isn't it just easier to point out ALL lives matter? Anytime any human being is killed, it is a tragedy. It is unconscionable that BLM leaders are calling for the death of white police officers and white people around our nation. It is unconscionable for ANYONE to incite others to kill another HUMAN BEING. Period. I don't care what you are or how you identify--- calling upon others to kill another human being is WRONG. When all is said and done, does it really matter what sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, occupation or group the dead person belonged to? NO! Because all life matters. Even if the person is a criminal-- their life matters. <<--this is not to say you cannot defend your own life. The right to self-defense is a natural right.
The sooner we realize unity will NEVER come through division, the faster our nation can heal.
Let's work to protect ALL life from conception to natural death.

Tennessee: Prohibit Firearms and You are Responsible for Safety of those You Unarm

As of today in Tennessee, if a handgun permit holder is injured, suffers bodily injury or death, incurs loss or expense, property damage or any other compensable loss on a property posted as a gun-free zone, they can sue the person or entity who stripped them of their right to self defense.

This is awesome. When I am forced to travel stripped of my right to carry, I always remind my family to sue on my behalf should I be harmed. You know, like when I have to travel to California or Illinois.  I don't patronize businesses that don't allow me to carry my firearm unless absolutely necessary (pharmacy, hospital, etc).  I hope other states follow Tennessee's lead. Make owners take responsibility for "gun-free" zones.

Here is the Bill Summary from the TN General Assembly page:

BILL SUMMARY

Present law authorizes persons in control of property to post a notice that prohibits firearms on the premises. This bill imposes a duty of care on any person who posts their property to prohibit firearms whereby such person will be responsible for the safety of any handgun carry permit holder while the permit holder is on the posted premises and traversing any area to and from the premises and the location where the permit holder's firearm is stored. The duty of care created by this bill will extend to the conduct of other invitees, trespassers, employees of the person or entity, vicious animals, wild animals, and defensible man-made and natural hazards.

This bill creates a cause of action whereby any permit holder who is harmed while on posted premises or traversing any area to and from the premises and the location where the permit holder's firearm is stored may bring suit against the person who posted the property. The full text of this bill specifies the burden of proof that a plaintiff must meet in order to prevail in a suit brought under this bill. In addition to damages, a permit holder who brings a suit under this bill will be entitled to attorney fees and costs. The statute of limitations for actions brought under this bill will be two years.

This bill requires that any person who posts their property to prohibit firearms on the premises must use a sign that includes language citing this bill and the duty of care that such person owes to permit holders.

U.S. Government Classifies Catfish as "Meat"

The U.S. government has reclassified catfish as meat. Thad Cochran (the R Senator from MS <-who is really a D->) got this added to the '08 farm bill and the '14 farm bill made it official. Republicans control both houses now...will they reverse it?

Of course not. Because they lack the intestinal fortitude and moral courage to do anything that creates a limited government. It's all about the next election and building up their war chests so they can defeat real conservatives in the next election.

The Problem with Some Pro-Life Groups

We already know that both parties are working in collusion against the American people.  But what about all of those so-called conservative pro-life groups?  Have they become power and money hungry to the point they no longer REALLY care about the issue of life?

Much like the NRA helps in maintaining the status quo, I believe many pro-life groups are doing a disservice to the pro-life community when they endorse incumbents who voted to fund Planned Parenthood-- simply because of the two pro-life candidates, one is an incumbent. 

This election cycle, I lost respect for pro-life groups like National Right to Life and NC Right to Life who endorsed candidates who voted to fund Planned Parenthood when they voted FOR the December 18, 2015 omnibus. The appropriations bill needed a rider barring Title X spending and Medicaid reimbursements from going to PP. These organizations know this, but some would rather attack and work against the candidate who would have actually fought to defund and prosecute PP, because it's politically expedient and beneficial to support an entrenched incumbent. Then you have another pro-life group lauding a politician who voted to fund Planned Parenthood as an "indispensable pro-life leader". Puke.

I stayed silent about the groups as we fought to defund PP until the head of NC RTL began publicly calling me out as a liar because I called Foxx out for voting to fund Planned Parenthood in the omnibus bill.  You simply cannot say you are pro-life if you vote to fund Planned Parenthood.  Pro-life groups who support politicians who voted to fund Planned Parenthood (who also failed to even stand up and speak out against funding of Planned Parenthood) have lost my respect. You cannot support ANYONE who votes to fund Planned Parenthood and be pro-life. PERIOD. 

It is estimated that Foxx spent nearly $1 million on her campaign against me. It was also reported that NCRTL was making calls for her.  All this to my $83,000 or so.  I'm proud to have gone up against the entirety of the establishment. I consider these establishment loving lobbyist groups to be part of the establishment AND part of the problem. 

Planned Parenthood receives $550 million a year of our tax dollars.  It is unconscionable that PP was funded and even more so that so-called pro-life groups would support and defend politicians who voted to fund Planned Parenthood!!

It's time to realize that we have conservative lobbyist groups contributing to the decline and moral decay of America, too. It's not just the liberals destroying the fabric of our society.  I'm actually more angry with the conservative groups than liberals because these conservative groups purport to be fighting abortion and then turn around and support the very people who voted to fund the largest abortion provider in the United States.

Another friend working the polls was told I was to the right of Hitler. 

A liberal Republican woman was working the polls for a conservative judge and told people after I spoke with them, "Please don't vote for her." She was surprised when I remembered her email telling me that I was what was wrong with the Republican Party. <<---LMAO 

A liberal man who kept harassing me via private message on Facebook sent me an email after the election because I'd blocked him from contacting me on FB! After several very crazy messages, I block. Why do liberals always think everyone cares so much about their opinion!!?

His emails crack me up- I couldn't help but let him know he made me laugh. <smirk> I simply responded "LMAO"

What kind of person spews such hatred? A liberal.

Graduations!

A few weeks ago, our oldest graduated from Belmont Abbey College. We are very proud of our son. He went to college with no college credits and graduated a 4 year program in 3 years. 

Our youngest two graduate from high school tomorrow! Our 17 year homeschool journey ends TOMORROW. 

Cannot count my many blessings and all the things I am thankful for! Here are a few things I'm thankful for:

*Thankful and feeling blessed that Sean has decided to go to Campbell University.  What a blessing that 2 of my 3 boys will have attended a Christian college!

*Thankful for a GREAT day on the trail yesterday. As always, I met so many amazing Americans who love our country and want to restore her. 

*Thankful that my youngest two will be graduating from high school this weekend. What an absolute BLESSING to be able to say, "We homeschooled all of our boys from K-12."  God is so good. 

I'll be doing a lot of reflecting this weekend. 17 years ago, when God called us to homeschool, we weren't sure where the journey would lead. Many times people would ask, "Are you going to homeschool them all the way through high school?" I'd always reply, "We will see...."

I can now say---we did it. 3 boys all the way through high school! It is a testimony to what God can do when you follow His call.

*Once when J was little he said he didn't want to go away to college and he asked, "Can you homeschool me for college, too!?"  Happy to report he's planning to go away to college at some point and he's looking forward to it. 

Blessed beyond my wildest dreams.  What an awesome God we serve.



Great Day on the Trail!

A friend went door knocking with me yesterday and we finished an entire precinct. I'm always amazed by the wonderful patriots we meet along the way. So many wonderful Americans who also want to restore our nation. 

My door total is 11,231 --- my friends have knocked on about 5,000 additional doors.

Best Regards!?

I received the following email yesterday from a registered Democrat married to the Republican I was trying to reach at her door. I knocked on 149 doors yesterday. Met some wonderful folks.

This email made me laugh. My response follows:

"Pattie,
I came home today and found your 'handwritten' note tucked into my doorknob.  At first I thought this was an actual note from a neighbor or friend, but I quickly realized that it was just another packaged political advertisement.
Trust me...I am no Virginia Foxx supporter, but compared to your positions she would be considered a dyed-in-the-wool leftist. Republican/Tea-Party candidates such as you who hold such extreme positions would doubtless kick Ronald Reagan out of the Republican party for not being 'conservative' enough.
I think the Tea Party movement has peaked and will soon be relegated to the ash-heap of history.  Fortunately....as recently evidenced by NC's HB-2, when people see what people such as yourself actually would bring to the table, they find that they want no part of it.
Perhaps you should seek a position less ambitious than that of a US Representative.  With your vast experience, I'm sure a more suitable position could be found in the fast food industry.

Thank you for your message, Txxx!  I love Ronald Reagan- he is one of my heroes. I would never have considered kicking him out of the party. :)
I've knocked on 10,398 doors as of today. I fully realize not every door I knock on will be a supporter. Isn't it great to be an American where we have people who want to represent us going door to door? If you had been at home, we could have had a discussion and gotten to know one another.
Our nation is almost $20 trillion in debt. We cannot afford to keep passing $1.1 trillion dollar spending bills. We must leave a better America for our children and grandchildren.
I was actually enlisted in the ARNG and went through OCS and became an officer. I was an executive officer of a HQ detachment. I was a social worker and I currently run a nonprofit that gives research grants to researchers for a rare disease called Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome. That being said, I'd have no problem working at a fast food place, as I did many times to work my way through college. There is dignity in hard work.

Are Democrats really THAT elitist? I've worked fast food, waited tables, and worked as a file girl, nanny, and several other jobs to get through college. These JOBS provided the money I needed for rent, food and clothing. There is NOTHING wrong with working a fast food job.  My husband worked at Albertsons unloading trucks in the middle of the night right out of college. He had a day job and was building experience for his career, it didn't pay much, so he got a second job unloading trucks. There is DIGNITY in working hard!

I suppose when faced with unemployment, the writer could never work just ANY job to get by. Crazy, isn't it!?

9,000 Doors!

The other day in Mt. Airy, I knocked on my 9,000th door. I'm at 9,138 as of yesterday. Heading out to door knock again in a bit.

The Deacon from Our Church Endorsed Me

I'm blessed to have so many endorsements from YOU- we the people. Those are the best endorsements and they mean the most.

Our Deacon at church has been a supporter from the beginning (I've posted pictures of me with his family all decked out in Pattie Curran gear holding yard signs before)...but today, I received a pleasant surprise, he filled out the endorsement form on my website. You can find it here.

I smiled when the email notification came through alerting me I had an endorsement and I read:

Another Medication Not Covered Thanks to #Obamacare

Thanks to Obamacare another medication is not covered. My J used to take it without a pre-auth for a different illness (switched to another med) and now we need it for S and guess what? Not covered. 
This is lifesaving. This is needed. Biopsies confirmed the other medication doesn't work at all. 
Now that big nanny government regulates all insurance causing huge cost increases and gets in the way of the doctor patient relationship, we can't get the medications our kids need for the diseases they have. OUR DOCTORS should be able to treat us WITHOUT government telling them what they can and cannot prescribe via regulatory fiat!!! 
Government can never solve problems like the free market. Government regulations create problems. Then stupid legislators then create more regulations to fix what their previous regulations broke----thus creating WORSE problems. So forth and so on. 
Get government OUT of my life and out of my medical care!! FULL REPEAL of ‪#‎ACA‬
The ACA cannot be fixed it must be fully repealed. Every. Single. Word. ‪#‎FullRepeal‬

Foxx says the House Doesn't Have the Power of the Purse

At around 32 minutes, Foxx says the House doesn't have the power of the purse. 

Can't make this stuff up. 

Yes, the House controls the purse strings. All appropriations must originate in the House. The constitution says the Senate may propose or concur with amendments. 

Ahem, thus, the House controls the purse strings. 

Madison called it a weapon. Apparently Foxx doesn't understand this weapon called the power of the purse. The constitution is clear:

Article 1 Section 7 Clause 1: All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

It's Official Again

I forgot to blog about my refiling for Congress last week. I guess that's because it just isn't as exciting the second time around. Just kidding, it was pretty exciting.

Having an election where your name is on the ballot but you don't have any results is anticlimactic,  I can tell you that!  We get to do it all over again on June 7th. Here's a picture with a few friends after refiling last Friday in Raleigh:


We are excited to have already been to many events in the newly added counties of Stokes and Surry. Can't wait to meet the good people of Avery county! Before the March 15th chaos hit, I had knocked on 8,811 doors and my grassroots army hit another 4,000 doors. I'm hoping to get another 3,000 - 4,000 doors in before the June 7th primary. It takes money to do all of this, so if you feel compelled, please donate to my campaign here.  I'm going up against a 6-term incumbent career politician (she was in Raleigh for at least a decade before heading to DC) who has $2 million cash on hand in her campaign account.

We can make our voices heard in DC. She's sent out 4 or 5 mailers and we have her nervous. She and I have been at events where we've both had the opportunity to speak. We are getting under her skin- she keeps saying, "Don't believe what you hear about me." In some instances, she's added, "Come to me and ask me." I had to laugh because I'm thinking, "Do people believe a politician in an election year?"

I literally choked on my tea at the Alexander County Reagan Day dinner when she told the folks not to believe what they hear about her and added, "I did not vote to fund Planned Parenthood."  A blatant lie.

When I had my three minutes, I told the crowd gathered that I was tired of the lies and tricks. If they had not voted to fully fund Planned Parenthood on December 18, 2015, they would not have had to pretend to defund it three weeks later. She thinks we the people are stupid enough to believe her lies.

THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO NEED TO "DEFUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD" and "DISMANTLE OBAMACARE" if they had NOT first voted to fund them both for another year on December 18th.

How can she lie with such a straight face? She knows she can't defund anything that has not been funded. It's a simple fact. Period. Don't fund it and you won't have to defund it. The House failed to use the leverage of a government shutdown to end funding for PP, Obamacare, executive amnesty, the Syrian refugee program and much more. They handed Obama and the Democrats everything they wanted on a silver platter without even a hint of a fight.

I've gone off on a tangent....this was supposed to be about my filing last week, but I've gone on about why I filed to run!

Faith to Not be Healed

A friend (in real life) and fellow rare disease mom wrote a blog post yesterday titled "Faith to Not be Healed". You can read her blog entry here. It was such a timely blog post about her reaction to a clip she'd heard and her daughter's recent diagnosis. This week, I have been asking God why He has chosen to allow our family to deal with three rare diseases (Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome, Mitochondrial Disease and Eosinophilic Esophagitis) and asked Him why He would give my boys these diseases and also allow some of the treatments not to work for them.  We found out Monday that my son's scope looks to be unchanged from his previous two. Meaning the new medication he started back in December isn't working.

So, reading Kathy's post really hit home today. Do we have the faith to not be healed? We know that God doesn't heal everyone. Even when Jesus walked this earth, He did not heal everyone, so why would we expect everyone to be healed now?  So often over the years, people have said to us, "If you have faith, they will be healed," and we even had one lady say, "You don't need to bring them to the doctor, it is God's will that they be healed." It's amazing what people say.

How do we react when it just isn't God's will that we or our children are healed? I believe God uses healing just as much as He uses suffering in the absence of His healing. Do we see God suffering? This week being Holy Week, I have been meditating on the Lord's Passion. A lot.

We've been dealing with rare, chronic illnesses for almost twenty years. While we pray for healing daily, we are confronted with reality when tests reveal that healing hasn't taken place. Or has it?  I think healing comes in many forms. Maybe God has chosen to heal us spiritually instead of healing our children (or us) physically. I think over the course of twenty years, God HAS healed us spiritually. His grace gets us through the rough times and the crazy illnesses that pop up due to the rare diseases my children battle daily. God uses our suffering to encourage others. Paul says the following:

2 Cor 1:5-7- "For as Christ's sufferings overflow to us, so through Christ does our encouragement also overflow. If we are afflicted, it is for your encouragement and salvation; if we are encouraged, it is for your encouragement, which enables you to endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is firm, for we know that as you share in the sufferings, you also share in the encouragement."

Sometimes, I can easily accept God's will. Other times, I am tired, cranky and fight acceptance. I'm human! Prayer helps, but I can't say that I always accept His will, if I am being honest with myself.  I understand redemptive suffering and scripture is replete with examples of suffering with Christ and accepting our sufferings patiently.  1 Peter 4:13 reminds us, "But rejoice to the extent that you share in the sufferings of Christ; so that when his glory is revealed you may also rejoice exultantly."

It's just not always easy to rejoice in our sufferings, is it?  My middle son was hospitalized the week before Christmas last year because his uvula was nicked during a routine upper GI scope and it became infected. Who has ever heard of an infected uvula? I'm here to tell you that it happens. It was difficult to say, "Wow, Jesus, I'm sure glad you allowed this odd infection to set in after we've already spent the week at the hospital, I'm going to rejoice in this." It doesn't come naturally for anyone. Many a saint has worked a lifetime to gain acceptance of his suffering. While I hope to one day be counted among the saints in heaven, I've got a long way to go.

God also gives us the grace to laugh at some of these odd trials we manage to overcome with His help. In my opinion, laughter IS grace.

Name the appendage and my people have had an infection on it. I could do a stand up comedy routine just on the unusual and rare infections. If I had a penny for every time I'd heard, "We've never seen anything like this."  Sometimes, people who haven't faced the medical trials that we have faced look in horror because we are laughing.  We can laugh or cry. We choose to laugh. With the help of God's grace, of course. Sometimes we can't even begin to laugh until we cried.

It's Holy Thursday and I'm doing what I've done many a Holy Week in the past.....waiting on the final biopsy reports and test results. Slowly, we are accepting that the scope on Monday doesn't look any better than the previous scopes in December and October. It's difficult to accept that medications don't  knock the disease out. The biopsy results will tells us if the medications are working AT ALL.  We pray for healing, we pray for a cure and we keep working at accepting God's will in all of this. We pray for the grace to patiently accept the suffering we encountered for the grace to be able to unite our sufferings to His.

Tomorrow is Good Friday and I am always reminded that every Good Friday brings an Easter Sunday, a  Resurrection Sunday. This week, as I have pondered Christ's passion, I've also been reminded of what Paul says in 1 Colossians 1:24, "Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of His body, which is the church."

Somewhere in all of this, we find the faith to not be healed. God is good.

Health Care is NOT a Natural Right

I think I have touched upon this subject before, but as we push for the full repeal of Obamacare, it is nice to be reminded that health care is not a natural right.  We don't want Ryancare or any other government health care. Get government OUT of health care all together.  Let's remember the words of the Declaration -- "That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."  Our founders held these truths to be SELF-EVIDENT.  Government wasn't given power over health care in the Constitution. 

Yesterday was the 159th anniversary of the Dred Scott decision. The day the Supreme Court ruled slavery constitutional. (Dred Scott v. Sandford 1857).  I use this as a reminder to people that the 9 men in robes are NOT supreme arbiters. They sometimes get it wrong, just as they did when they ruled in 1896 that segregation was constitutional in Plessy v. Ferguson. In 1944, SCOTUS ruled the internment of Japanese Americans was constitutional in the Korematsu v. United States. Many conservative Americans also believe the SCOTUS ruling on Obamacare is wrong.  That being said, on to the point of this post--- 

Health Care is NOT a Natural Right

You and I do not have the right to compel another person to labor for us, nor do we have the right to compel him to give the fruits (products) of his labor free of charge.  

I have two children with life-threatening illnesses. I cannot make others care for them or give them goods and services. It is not the responsibility of government to coerce other citizens to pay for their health care or mine via taxes, either. Government isn't given the power in the Constitution to do this nor is it given the power to force others to give their labor and goods free of charge.  And even though the Supreme Court ruled otherwise, the Constitution doesn't give the government the power to force citizens to BUY products like insurance, either.  Even though SCOTUS ruled that slavery was Constitutional 

If government can force doctors and nurses to work for free or set low cost wages, then doctors and nurses are slaves. If you and I can force doctors and nurses to serve us and force others to give us their products, then we are nothing but slave masters. If government can compel these folks to work for free or set low wages, then government can compel ANYONE to do the same.  

Your natural rights end where they interfere with another person's rights. You must choose between slavery or liberty. I choose liberty!

Another Dog Story

Holy cow! I thought I might have to shoot a dog the other day!!! All you folks who have been commenting about my toting a gun need to read this. 

I walked past this one house with large dog wearing a shock collar. Very large dog. He barked. I went to the house next door and he stopped at what I assume was the electric fence line and was no longer barking. Tail wagging. 

When I got to the door, he ran through the line, through the neighbor's yard and bit at my butt and then my leg. His snout was level with my rear end. If he stood on his hind legs, he'd of likely been as tall as me. 

I took off running with my hand on my holstered weapon as he bit at my legs. A few times, his teeth caught my jeans. Thankfully, he stopped before I got to the old Suburban. He went back to his owner's yard and sat on their porch. For the liberals reading this, by owner I mean the house NEXT DOOR from the one I was visiting!!

This reaffirms my belief in carrying a firearm for personal protection. Had the dog been in the yard of the house I was visiting, I wouldn't have even approached said house. 

Funny side note: my friend driving the Suburban says I can run pretty fast for a middle aged woman. 😂

My Response to the Winston-Salem Journal

Since the Winston-Salem Journal refuses to print letters from active candidates, here is my response to Mr. Johnson. 

Mr. Johnson, 
Foxx voted for HR5 that re-authroized No Child Left Behind. Foxx also voted for the $1.1 trillion dollar Omnibus on Dec 18 (HR2029) that funded Planned Parenthood, funded Obamacare, funded Obama’s amnesty and Syrian refugee program and also partially bailed out Puerto Rico.
It is disingenuous to spread only half truths. If Republicans had not fully funded Planned Parenthood and Obamacare on December 18th, they would not have had to vote in January to “dismantle” Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood. Republicans use the lack of understanding by a vast majority of Americans in order to trick them into believing they are actually fighting for what we want. I understand and know when Republicans are pulling the wool over our eyes.
The House controls the purse strings-our founders called the power of the purse a weapon. We currently have a representative who is afraid to use this power to defund anything! The time to fight funding was December 18, not after they’ve already funded everything! We need a representative who will listen to the people and who will vote to stop funding. We don’t need a representative who votes to fund all of these things for another year and then turns around in a show vote to dismantle and defund them in an election year in an attempt to trick the electorate into re-electing her. If you want a conservative who will actually fight, I am the person you should vote for on March 15.

Obamacare in One Picture

We can't order our sons' asthma meds or any of their other meds until this balance for the blood product he infuses weekly is paid. Life was easier before Obamacare when it had a $16 copay. 

Let me explain this invoice. The $850 is for the medication that protects my youngest son's kidneys from damage. It doesn't go toward our deductible or out-of-pocket max. The $1000 payment seen there was in addition to another $1000 paid last month. Our balance left to pay is $4550.04.

I don't even know if the IGG will ship with this balance. The people at the specialty pharmacy think it will. I'll find out for sure tomorrow. 

The $850 med was "accidentally" shipped. We were waiting for a pre-auth and it was shipped to us without a pre-auth. See previous posts for pre-auth explainations.

This Is Why Obamacare Needed to Be Defunded

We've cried out to those who represent us in Washington and they've essentially given we the people the middle finger. 

Sorry, but when millions of Americans are suffering under Obamacare and begging Republicans to stop it.....and Republicans ignore the pleas for help, it IS essentially giving us the middle finger. We gave them the largest Republican majority in the House in over 80 years and delivered the Senate to Republicans. What have they done!? NOTHING except lie about their intentions to fight Obamacare. They were never going to try to stop the law. 

We had the same health care plan for a decade until Onamacare made it unaffordable. The company offered new plans. This screen shot shows the cost of a blood product my son infuses weekly. He did IVIG in the hospital once a month from 2000 through 2005.  In 2005 we switched to SCIG at home. This medication had a $16 copay from 2005 until the year after the law passed. Then the copay doubled. Still affordable, right? 

Last year we had to figure out how to pay over $4000 the first refill and over $1500 the second refill.  For the first time in 19 years with kids who have chronic healt issues, we had to apply for a drug company copay assistance program. This year, the program changed. No doubt due to the number of people who know have unaffordable copays due to Obamacare. 

We paid close to $500 and copay assistance paid $500, leaving us a balance of $3499.75.  We have to refill this again in a week or so and it will cost $1199.31 plus the balance due from the last fill. 

The people in DC exempted themselves from the law and they are out of touch millionaires who have no concept of what the average American family deals with day to day. 

This is one reason why we've been fighting to defund and repeal Obamacare. We are only one of millions of American families who are being harmed by the law. 

With the exception of a very few in DC, the political class doesn't care that the blood product my son infuses weekly is now unaffordable. Virginia Foxx is in the district lying and telling people she's actually fought to stop Obamcare. It's pathetic.

8000th Door!

One day, I'll have to write a book about this. I have such an amazing time going door to door. I know liberals don't understand my sense of humor or laughter in the face of unkind folks but, well, so what!?  These stories are real life on the trail.

Yesterday, I went to a door and it ended up being REALLY funny! I knocked on the door. A man answered, looked at me and said, "You're not welcome here,' as he started to slam the door. I just looked on in disbelief and said, "Okay."  All of a sudden, I see a hand catch the swinging door and his head pops out and he said, "I am so sorry! I thought you were someone else!"

We laughed and talked for a bit. He was wearing a shirt that said, "Obamacare: bend over and take it." So you can see why we would hit it off. Before I left, he laughed and said, "You're not welcome here, I am so sorry!" Laughing at his original mistake for confusing me with someone else. Oh my goodness, what a funny situation that was.

Today, I knocked on my 8000th door! By the day's end, I had a total of 8,071 doors knocked.  On to 9,000! My goal is in sight! I am hoping to make 10,000 doors before early voting begins on March 3.

8,071 doors and I've still only met 7 folks who support my opponent. Sunday, more than half of the people at the 92 doors I visited were home. Yesterday, I made it to 174 doors, maybe about 30% were home- I find that most days 30-40% of the people are home. So, only meeting 7 folks so far who will tell me they support FOXX is a good sign, in my opinion.

There are quite a few who don't say either way, but the majority of the folks I am meeting are PISSED off. I say pissed because they are beyond angry.

We the people will make our voices heard in DC.

Town Halls

I've been blessed 1) by being endorsed by Greg Brannon and 2) being asked to speak at his town halls in the  5th district.

As you may have noticed, I'm not doing a stellar job of blogging about my days on the trail! Here are a few pictures from the town halls I've spoken at recently. 

I've got a good excuse for not blogging, I'm out door knocking. I'm closing in on 8000 total!

I had a great time on the trail today. Knocked on doors in Statesville and spoke at a town hall in Hickory, NC.

I knocked on doors down this beautiful dirt road. Carolina clay! Met some amazing folks...... everyone I spoke to is tired of Republicans who don't stand up. Tired of being ignored. Tired of career politicians.

Obamacare Continues to Cause Problems

You know it's bad when you receive this message in your inbox.  It's going to cost $850 plus.........hence the reason they wanted to discuss payment options. I thought we had the pre-auth approved, but received this message and found out it hasn't come through. 

This used to be $131 for a three month supply for at least 6 years before Obamacare. I have the invoices posted on my blog in a post from several years ago. 

Adding to the Obamacare nightmare, pre-auth or not, the copay for this med doesn't go toward our deductible or OOP  Max. January is t even over and we have already met and exceeded our OOP Max. 



Ballot

Here's what the primary ballot looks like. I've had a great time going door to door. One question people ask frequently, "So, you are really on the ballot?" Yes, I am. 

I've also had to convince more than one person that I am actually running for Congress. I've not met anyone who has ever had a congressional candidate come to their door before I showed up at their doorstep! 

Today, I'm off to door knock in Statesville and then will be speaking at a town hall in Hickory. I love meeting all the wonderful people of NC05.

Won't You Reconsider?

A few days ago, I received an email asking me to reconsider my stance on Planned Parenthood. I'm not sure her party affiliation and I don't know how anyone would ever think I'd  reconsider my stance. Here was my reply: 


I've only run into 3 Republican supports of PP in my over 7500 doors I've knocked on. Yesterday, I met one man who said God is in charge of our souls and we can do whatever we want with our body, thus what PP is doing is okay. I later met a man who was angry to see me at his door. He feels like PP is getting a bad rap because of the videos. 

I meet all types of people going door to door. Most of the folks I meet stand where I do and are as fed up as I am with being ignored in DC. Most are outraged over continued funding of PP. 

Today, I was at it again. Everyone I spoke to was appalled by what PP has been doing and wants federal funding halted.

Newsflash: I Carry a Gun

Newsflash: I carry a gun for self-defense, should the need arise.
I offended a liberal because I talk about guns and mentioned I was prepared to neutralize any threat from attack dogs. Always an anonymous liberal, of course.  This person is also *offended* that I called the attack dog Democrat a whacko liberal.
Excuse me? If a conservative yelled at a liberal not to enter their yard, said his dogs would attack said liberal, I'd be calling that conservative a whacko conservative. 
I LOVE guns. I am prepared to use them in defense of myself, my family and the people I love. If you send your dogs to attack me, I WILL shoot them. Right in front of you. I love animals, but if one is attacking me, I will neutralize the threat. Period. Instead of coming after me for carrying a gun, we should be discussing how it's not okay to threaten people with lethal weapons called attack dogs. 
Perhaps the moral of the story for liberals is:
Don't threaten good folks with attack dogs. Some people carry guns. If your dogs attack people, your dogs may not survive.....unless they attack an unarmed person. That wouldn't be me. I love guns and am always armed where legal. 
Yes, I am always armed where legal. I hope I never have to use my gun in defense of LIFE, but I am prepared to do so. Don't tread on me. I unabashedly embrace the second amendment. 

All this being said, I think the story was funny since no one was harmed. I might not be laughing if the woman in my earlier blog post had actually sent her dogs to attack me, but since it turned out okay in the end, I am laughing. I wouldn't have had to think about my gun that day if I had not been threatened with attack dogs. 
 
I have a sense of humor. I am an equal opportunity story teller and I hold ALL elected officials accountable- have you seen my blog posts and activism record of going after conservatives!?

How Congress Funded Planned Parenthood

People keep asking me how Congress funded Planned Parenthood in the December omnibus spending bill. 

Congress needed to place a rider on the omnibus prohibiting federal funding going to PP under Title X and via Medicaid. 

Abortion giant Planned Parenthood has been a recipient of federal dollars under Title X of the Public Health Service Act and via Medicaid reimbursements, among other sources. Last reporting year, Planned Parenthood received $528 million in taxpayer dollars – 41% of its total revenue – a significant portion of which comes from these federal government programs.

Virginia Foxx voted to fund PP when she voted for the omnibus that contained NO rider to prevent the over $500 million from going to Planned Parenthood.
