Surprise! Obamacare Targets Sick People

Are you surprised? I'm not surprised. Communists always target the sick and disabled first. The morons in Congress didn't read the bill, then when they found out about the medical device tax, they assumes there was no way the cost of the tax would be passed onto the consumers.  Who uses medical devices? Sick people, disabled people, or people recovering from a surgery or illness, right?

I posted yesterday about the 17 morons who now want to delay the medical device tax.  They must be up for re-election in 2014.  That's usually the only time a Democrat opposes a tax.

Anyway, I was up late last night reading tax code and trying to find out which medical devices we use here at home would be taxed. In case you don't know, I have two chronically ill kids.  My son's catheters will be taxed and anything that comes from home health or the hospital.  2.3% tax that will most assuredly increase the cost for the consumer.

Vet supplies are taxed, too!  Human medical supplies include pathology, urology, OB/GYN, hematology, orthopedic and the list goes on and one and on.  Below is a great article on the tax and a link to the Federal Register details of "Taxable Medical Devices"

17 Democrats Want to Delay the Medical Device Tax

I know, I know...you are probably asking yourself the same questions I asked when I heard the news. Did the morons read the bill before they passed it?  Did the idiots not understand the medical device tax then? Did they finally read the bill? Why now? Why didn't they oppose this medical device tax when the darn Obamacare bill was being rammed down our unwilling throats in 2010?

Casey Calls for Delay of Medical Device Tax

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and 16 other Senate Democrats want the medical device tax - included in the 2010 healthcare reform law that they supported - postponed.
The 2.3 percent excise tax that devicemakers must pay on their gross sales goes into effect on Jan. 1. It's one of the new revenues used to offset the cost of the healthcare law. The Internal Revenue Service issued Wednesday its final rules on the tax, which will impact profits on items such as high-tech burn treatments, catheters, back braces and in-home HIV tests.

Morons, idiots, dolts, jerks, and imbeciles are the nicest names I can come up for these stupid Democratic Senators. Next time, they should read the bill.

Free Market Medicine Works

Okay, liberals, I double dog dare you to watch the video at the following link. Two doctors established a private surgical center and publish the actual cost.  The FREE MARKET works! People who would pay 3,4 or even 7K co-pays for surgeries now pay ZERO. WHY!?  Because they work for companies who pay for the entire surgery if they go to the private facility! It costs thecompany less, so they pay the entire bill.  What a novel idea. The free market works.

Read the article and see the video here.

A scary clip from the article: "A new provision buried in Obamacare effectively prohibits doctors from starting their own hospitals or expanding the hospitals they already own, which has been widely interpreted as a give-away to the American Hospital Association."

Kay Hagan Supports CRPD

I have issues with Senator Hagan.  She is a lackey for the Democratic party.  This morning, I called her office 202-224-6342, as I had about a month ago to inquire as to how the senator planned on voting tomorrow on the CRPD (UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities). A month ago, I was told the senator had not yet made up her mind. Today, the first person to answer the phone told me, "The senator has no official statement on how she is going to vote tomorrow."  Ahhhh.... I told her that was code for "The senator is voting yes on CRPD."

Why would Kay Hagan try to hide that she is voting for a treaty that surrenders U.S. sovereignty to unelected UN bureaucrats, and will threaten parental decision making for children with disabilities?  Why would I have to repeatedly ask, "The vote is tomorrow and the senator has no official statement? The people she represents have a right to know how she is going to vote" ?

I was finally switched over to her foreign affairs lackey..um, I mean aide, who told me the senator is voting yes tomorrow.  In 2014, Kay Hagan is TOAST. We are already working hard to see that she is not reelected. She was only elected because she got caught up in the "Obama Sweep" -- 2-14 she will no longer be a senator.

Want to learn more about the CRPD? HSLDA has a video and information here.  Another good article:  The UN CRPD: A Danger to Homeschooling Families

Twelve Reasons Why I Voted Democratic

This one was just too good not to share!  Enjoy!

Separation of Church and State

A North Carolina School orders a six year old to remove the word "God" from a poem she wrote for a Veteran's Day celebration to honor her grandfathers who both served in Vietnam.  Read the Fox News report here.

“He prayed to God for peace, he prayed to God for strength,” the poem read. A parent reportedly found out about the poem and expressed concern about mentioning the word God during a school event. The parent did not want the Almighty’s name mentioned anywhere in the program, according to one account.

"We wanted to make sure we were upholding the school district’s responsibility of separation of church and state from the Establishment Clause,” Supt. Gerri Martin told the McDowell News.

We keep hearing these stories over and over again. Christ in urine = art, but "God" in a poem = unconscionable.  I blame the lack of education. I blame the public schools.  The idiots are running the asylum.  No where in our founding documents do the words "separation of church and state" appear.  BUT they do appear in the 1936 USSR Constitution- Chapter X article 124. We know where it got them. ARTICLE 124 of Chapter X reads  "In order to ensure to citizens freedom of conscience, the church in the U.S.S.R. is separated from the state, and the school from the church. Freedom of religious worship and freedom of antireligious propaganda is recognized for all citizens."

Our government buildings are full of references to God. Thomas Jefferson and others attended church services in the Capitol building.  In that same building, where the Speaker of the House stands, the words "In God We Trust"are above his head.

The House of Representatives opens each day with a prayer. You can see the archived prayers here. The site goes back to 2000 and also has the first opening prayer from the 1774 Continental Congress.

We need to educate folks on what Thomas Jefferson meant when he wrote about separation of church and state. He absolutely did not mean we could not pray or talk about God in the public square or in government buildings.

Uh Oh Obamacare is the Law of the Land

A Doctor writes about what happens at your *free* Obamacare annual exam:  A Physician's New Reality: Patients Ask Me to Break the Law

I guess this is one time I can say we don't have to worry about it because we don't have well visits for the kids, so when they are seen, we have to pay for it. I currently go to a doctor who isn't on my insurance (while I am still able) and I just pay cash for my doctor visits. I'm guessing it won't be long before Obamacare dictates that we only see doctors who take our "government approved" insurance.

The best news of the day comes from Human Events- Obamacare may unravel. Obamacare in Crisis as 2013 Approaches

Those who wrote the evil that is Obamacare did not anticipate that states would opt out of setting up exchanges.  ~evil laugh~     My two favorite quotes from the above article:

”The Obama administration faces major logistical and financial challenges in creating health insurance exchanges for states that have declined to set up their own systems,” noted author Elise Viebeck, who went on to say it was “a situation no one anticipated when the Affordable Care Act was written,” because “the law assumed states would create and operate their own exchanges, and set aside billions in grants for that purpose.”

"What?  ”A situation no one anticipated?”  How could that be true?  The governors resisting President Obama’s health-care takeover are not seceding from the Union.  ”Rebellious” is a description of their attitude, not their legal status.  They’re not breaking, or even challenging, any laws; they’re exercising a provision written into ObamaCare, and it’s one of the relatively few sections of that disastrous law that actually was written in ink, at the time of passage.  State governors were always given the option of asking the federal government to run the exchanges in their states."

"The bitter irony is that all of this billion-dollar confusion is happening because ObamaCare seeks to replace far less expensive and more efficient market forces with one-size-fits-all mandates and central planning.  The purpose of these health care exchanges is to create a titanic fifty-state bureaucracy that helps consumers find the best Washington-approved health care policies, and collect all of the tax credits owed them – a sort of “Match.com” for health insurance, as Viebeck describes it"

George Washington's Original Thanksgiving Proclamation

What traditions does your family have on Thanksgiving? We read George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation from Oct 3, 1789. Many years later on Oct 3, 1863, Lincoln chose to set the precedent for a national day of Thanksgiving. Prior to George Washington's Proclamation, Congress had already issued many such proclamations. It was no accident that Lincoln chose that day, either. Read this document and there is no way anyone could ever say this nation is not a Christian nation founded on Christian principles. Here is George Washington's Original Thanksgiving Proclamation:

Thanksgiving Proclamation

[New York, 3 October 1789]

By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor-- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war--for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions-- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually--to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord--To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us--and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

The Sign and Banner

The other night, the phone rang. The man on the other end said,"I'm calling about the 'Fire Obama' sign in your yard." I replied,"It's going to be there for the next four years, what's up?" He then told me who he was. A man from our church and he was really calling to see if one of my boys could serve at Mass for his daughter tonight. Yesterday, I added a Stan up for Religious Freedom Banner to our yard. It will stay until the HHS mandate is stopped.

Abortion Premium Mandate In Obamacare

Why do liberals always think conservatives are STUPID? Obamacare funds abortion. Period. They have a secrecy clause where an employee doesn't know if abortion is covered..... Why keep it a secret? I believe it is because our government is pro-UN abortion agent and the only way to get abortion funded is to hide it. Not only that, but Obamacare usurps parental rights and allows children/minors to violate family morals and religious values!!!! (see below) *** note the abortion premium mandate is separate from the HHS mandate that also forces us to cover abortion via abortion drugs like Ella and plan B.

Abortion Premium Mandate
 Is concealed in the Individual Mandate and requires all persons enrolled in insurance plans in State Exchanges (see below) that include elective abortion coverage to pay a separate premium straight from their paychecks to fund all types of elective abortion (ObamaCare Sec. 1303(b)(1) & (2), Pg. 779–80)
 ObamaCare says this separate premium will not cost less than $1 per month per enrollee, but does not say how much more it could cost (ObamaCare Sec. 1303 (D) (ii) (III), Pg. 780)
 This separate charge will go directly into an abortion-on-demand fund established by ObamaCare to cover all types of elective abortions - surgical, chemical, late term, etc. (ObamaCare Sec. 1303 (C) (ii), Pg. 780)
 Because this premium is taken directly from a paycheck and put directly into an abortion-on- demand fund, bypassing the tax process, it attempts to circumvent federal laws that prohibit taxpayer funding of abortion (see Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2012, Pub. L. No. 112-74, div. F, tit. V., § 506(b), 125 Stat 786, Pg. 1111)
 Elective abortions of all types (surgical, chemical, late term, etc.) will be covered similarly to medical procedures, which may have a co-pay or may be subsidized completely
 The U.S. Department of Labor reports that there are approximately 154,000,000 people in the U.S. labor force. If only half of plans include the Abortion Premium, at only $1 per month, the yearly income into this fund would be $924,000,000. (Bureau of Labor Statistics May 2012 Pg. 5)
 On average, an abortion costs $450. At the above rate, this fund could completely subsidize 2 million abortions per year. Currently, there are 1.2 million

Subsidies
 ObamaCare subsidizes health plans in State Exchanges purchased by families (of four) who make $92,000 per year or less, or 400% or less of the poverty level (Reconciliation Act Pg. 3)
 All aspects of the plan are subsidized with taxpayer dollars, necessarily including elective abortions (for plans that include it), abortion pills, contraception, sterilization, etc. (NRL News Today)
 The Abortion Premium Mandate (see above) is simply an accounting designation created to give the impression that abortions are not subsidized with taxpayer dollars
 The ObamaCare subsidization of exchange plans which cover abortion violates existing federal law known as the Hyde Amendment, which specifically prohibits federal funding for any part of a health insurance package that covers elective abortions (see Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2012, Pub. L. No. 112-74, div. F, tit. V., § 506(b), 125 Stat 786, Pg. 1111)

Secrecy Clause
 While many of the ObamaCare-compliant insurance plans include coverage an abortion premium, not all do. (ObamaCare Sec. 1303(b)(1)(A)(i), Pg. 779)
 But insurance companies are not allowed to communicate in advance to employees which plans include this abortion premium. It may “only” be disclosed in the fine print of the “summary of benefits and coverage explanation, at the time of enrollment.” (ObamaCare Sec. 1303(b)(3)(A), Pg. 781)
 The employee will discover that their plan contains an abortion premium either by seeking it out in the fine print once they have enrolled, or noticing the separate surcharge taken from their paycheck. (ObamaCare Sec. 1303(b)(1) & (2), Pg. 780)

Automatic Enrollment of Minors in HHS Mandate
 Children/Dependents (ages 0 – 26), as “beneficiaries,” are “automatically” and mandatorily enrolled into the HHS Mandate coverage (77 Fed. Reg. at 16505 Pg. 3; 76 Fed. Reg. at 46624 Pg. 4)
 Children will receive coverage of free contraception counseling and education, contraception, sterilization and early-abortion pills as stated in the HHS Mandate (see above) (Women’s Preventive Services Guidelines)
 Healthcare service providers are not required to inform parents of services provided to their children because of Privacy Provisions (HIPPA 164.502 Pg. 17 and 164.510 Pg. 25-26)
 While the law requires that children/dependents receive total coverage for contraception, abortion pills and sterilizations, it does not require that they receive any coverage for live birth. (Title 29: Labor Part 1604—Guidelines On Discrimination Because Of Sex )
 In February, 2012 the Obama Administration said that for religious organizations, the coverage would only go to employees and their dependents “who desire it” (77 Fed. Reg. at 8728 Pg. 4)
In March the administration changed their position and announced that this coverage would
automatically go to all employees and their children (77 Fed. Reg. at 16505 Pg. 3)
 Planned Parenthood’s research institute specifically advocated for contraception counseling,
contraception, and abortion pills to be covered in insurance totally free, as the HHS Mandate directs, so that children could get it confidentially, without parents receiving a bill for a co-pay or an Explanation of Benefits (Guttmacher: Unintended Consequences)

What's My Beef?

What is it that liberals don't get? Any discussion of the decreased flex spending brings up musings about how we should feel grateful for what the government allows us to do. Forget that!

Grateful, my @ss. I am NOT going to feel grateful because my overreaching government ALLOWS me some meager tax deduction via my flex spending account. How about this? Instead of flex spending accounts, our government allows us to deduct all medical expenses? Why shouldn't we be able top deduct all medical expenses and thus gain a tax savings of $1,000 - $1,500 a year-- and eliminate the need for flex spending at all? THEN, we can use that $1000-$1500 to pay for our own children's medical expenses? How about that!?

To go further.... the decreased flex spending is what hurts my family the most because it is a way we decrease our taxable income AND it helps us pay off the medical expenses we incur at the beginning of the year. However, with the increased premiums, co-pays, deductibles and out of pocket maximums, even leaving the flex spending limit the same would not help us too much. Decreasing the limit just drives the last nail further into the coffin.

I could write poem titled, "Obamacare, how many ways you hurt us." There are quite a few unknowns, of course. What we do know is that the cost increases, increased taxes and decreased flex spending WILL hurt my family. We will run our of credit to pay for the boys' medications. What we don't know: Will my son's medication pump be taxed via the new medical device tax and thus increase our costs? Will our co-pays escalate again for the third year in a row? Will my husband have a job?

As people are getting laid off since the election, we are grateful that hubby still has a job. We honestly do not know how we will make it through next year in a financially stable position. Obamacare will crush us and for that, I am not grateful.

Unite? Never.

I've been working very hard at keeping despair at bay.  The impending sense of doom that fills my heart as just a thought of next year flashes through my head can be overwhelming. I've written letters to several Republican members of the US House the last several days - hoping and praying that they will have a backbone and stand up to Obama.  We are a nation divided.  I'm going to go out on a limb and say over half the nation opposes Obama. If you factor in the people too disgusted to vote, or the Evangelicals who couldn't vote for Romney because he is a Mormon-- this nation doesn't support Obama's agenda.

Everywhere I turn, I keep seeing Democrats calling us to "unite" - not no, but HELL no. This is not only about our nation's future, but this is also personal. When a party's policies threeaten MY religious freedom and MY family's financial future-- it is personal. I could never unite with a party that denied God three times and removed God from their platform-- before leaders put Him back in against the will of those in attendance at the DNC.  I could never unite with a party whose sacrament is abortion. I could never unite with a party who believes in taking money from people who have earned that money through hard work -- I believe in lower taxes and smaller government- the Democrats believe the opposite. How could I ever unite with them? They are the antithesis to who and what I am.

I cannot even begin to tell you the fear we have as next year approaches.  If you don't have sick kids or sick loved ones, you may not understand.  I keep telling everyone how Obamacare's taxes are going to hurt my family.  The two that will have the biggest effect, I keep writing about-- the drop in flex and decreased itemized deductions for medical expenses.  If you don't have enough medical expenses to itemize, offer a prayer in thanksgiving.

The next items they want us to "unite" on? Fast and Furious and Benghazi. Oh, again, I say HELL no. The Americans killed by the weapons Eric Holder and the Obama Administration gave to Mexican thugs deserve justice from their government. Their famlies deserve answers and justice. The Mexican citizens and their families deserve justice, too.  The four dead Americans in Benghazi deserve justice.  The Benghazi families and the American people deserve answers. Of course, with Obama and his minions running the show, I don't have hope we will find out what really happened in Benghazi or who authorized FnF.  Maybe after the midterm elections - if Republicans take control of the Senate - we can find out what really happened.

I still don't understand how Democrats can support this man and his policies. They oppose war, wanted Gitmo closed....and he followed through on ZERO of his promises in that regard. In fact. he created MORE war-- attacked Libya which was followed by Benghazi.  How do they justify supporting THIS man when they fault Bush for going after our enemies after 9-11?  Of course, with over 40% of regular Mass going Catholics voting for a man who is attacking the religious freedom of their Catholic Church and who supports not only partial birth abortion, but leaving babies born alive after botched abortions to die, how can I ever understand the minds of Democrats, especially Catholic Democrats?  They oppose violence-- except in the womb of a mother.

I believe we will have more violence in the world how that Obama is heading to a second term. Today he announced 1.6 Trillion in new taxes he'd ike to see come to fruition. Yeah, that's going to help the economy just as much and Obamacare is helping the economy. When will Democrats learn that increasing taxes slows the economy? Even one of their greatest -- JFK -- understood that basic econmic fact.   Yet, somewhere in the "redistribution of wealth" turn, they lost sight of this itty, bitty fact.

My middle guy has been sick with a fever since Sunday -- and you know what I'm thinking? I'm wondering if this time next year, we'll be able to afford to bring him to the doctor when he gets sick.  We're already thinking we won't be able to afford their medications --  it's going to be a dark, dark 4 years.   I'll be clinging to my religion, that's for sure. If I can afford it, I might get a little range practice in there, too.......  and you KNOW we'll never unite with Democrats on the second amendment!

We Lost the Battle, but the War is NOT Over.... It Has Only Just Begun!

I haven't had much time to blog. I've been busy-- volunteering at the polls, traveling with Freedomworks and such. The election is over and it didn't go our way, at least in the White House. We had many positive outcomes, however. We maintained control of the House of Representatives and will fight to block all funding for Obamacare.

I had my one day, post-election nervous breakdown and am already getting back to work. Trying to focus on the positives as we move forward-- we maintained control of the House in Congress and we own the state of North Carolina! North Carolina REJECTED Obama and his policies -- now it is time to work at the state level to stop the evil that is Obamacare. On the federal level, let's make sure the House doesn't fund Obamacare. Please join me!

We have a lot of work to do. I am going to be on the front lines-- I will not back down, no matter how much the left vilifies me! And they will...just as they have in the past. Let's roll...... Are you in? I've already talked to my representative in the State General Assembly and set up a meeting next week. What can you do for the cause of liberty!?

On the message of liberty, Peggy Noonan had me yelling at my TV yesterday.  She is just stupid. No, Republicans should not reach out to any one minority, sex or otherwise. What we NEED to do is stand up for LIBERTY explain what liberty is-- explain our founding principles and teach people. Liberty is not for any one person, group or sex! Liberty is for ALL people of ALL times. I am so sick and tired of conservatives pandering to people- BOLDLY PROCLAIM THE CAUSE OF LIBERTY!

Peggy was saying more than just get better at spreading the message-- she wants us to pander to Women and Hispanics. Liberty does not pander.

Some Republicans have insisted we must not have pro-life issues/abortion issues on the platform because they "offend" women. I say BS! Let's spread the message of hope, dignity of life and the the right of every person to LIFE, LIBERTY and the Pursuit of Happiness. They want to change our message, but Liberty is simple and not complicated. Speak the truth in love and do not shy away from Truth. God calls us to proclaim the Truth. We must move forward today and and share the message of liberty. When people understand the cause of liberty-- they embrace it.

What's Your Take?

I've been in Florida with FreedomWorks the last two days. We're out door knocking for Connie Mack and R&R. In one neighborhood, I passed a vacant house with notices posted on the doors and windows. Inside the front window, the owners left a Romeny/Ryan sign.

What's your take? My take is that the owner lost his job an house and left the sign as a reminder that Obama's policies aren't working. I would love to heat what others think.

My Letter Made the Cut

I was shocked to learn that my letter to the editor made the paper today. Normally, they contact me before print. I had not heard from them. Check it out here: http://www2.journalnow.com/news/2012/oct/23/readers-forum-tuesday-letters-ar-2716852/?referer=None&shorturl=http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FQCRzFN Here's the text for those who don't want to scroll down to it on the link above: Many people don’t understand how profoundly Obamacare’s taxes will hurt the middle class. Families with medically complicated children will be crushed. I’m addressing the two taxes that will have the most devastating effect: reduction of flex spending limits from $5,000 to $2,500 and decreased medical deductions that take place in 2013. Families like mine, whose out of pocket medical expenses total over $10,000-$20,000 a year will be crushed. Families like ours are already crushed by medical debt and we see no relief in sight. This new law proposes to increase our taxes along with our medical expenses, and thus our personal debt. The flex spending reduction is a tax increase because flex dollars are placed in the account before taxes, thus lowering taxable income. Decreasing the allowable amount increases taxable income. FSAs help our family and families like ours survive the first few months of each year. The decrease in allowable medical deductions will harm families like ours. Currently, only medical expenses that are over 7.5% of adjusted gross income (AGI) can be deducted. In 2013, this limit increases to 10% AGI. For example, a family making $100,000 cannot deduct the first $10,000 in medical expenses in 2013, whereas before deductions began after reaching $7,500 in medical expenses. Fewer allowable medical deductions is a tax increase. Liberals have yet to answer this question: how is it selfish or evil that we want to keep more of our own money to pay for our own children’s medical expenses?

A Perspective from A Parent of Chronically Ill Kids

A little perspective. What do people do when their very existence is being threatened? The fight or flight response kicks in-- this election is very important on a National level, certainly. On a personal level it is a battle between a person who will cause the ruin of our personal finances vs the man who will remove those threats (and maybe not in time).  Obamacare DIRECTLY affects my family in a very negative way. Not just the HHS mandate stripping our religious freedom-- but its personal impact on my children's medical care and our financial stability.

Forcing others to go into debt so that you can get free stuff is immoral. Period. I have two children with Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome and secondary Mitochondrial Disease. Since Obamacare's inception, our premiums, co-pays, out of pocket max and over all medical costs have increased exponentially. We received our benefits election information for 2013 and we have more increases in premiums, co-pays and OOPs. Next year we also face the tax increases by way of the decreased flex spending amount and the increased itemized deduction threshold from 7.5% to 10%. Our family may not make it through next year in a financially stable position.

Obama’s HHS mandate is forcing us to pay for women to receive free birth control, surgical sterilizations and abortion drugs and thus increasing our costs. Insurance companies cannot cover more people AND pay 100% for certain services and NOT pass the bill on to consumers. Even providing the cheap generic birth control to women from Target and WalMart at $9.00 will cost millions. If an insurance company must now give birth control FREE to one million women -- and keep in mind not all women will be getting the cheap stuff-- at the cheap price, the insurance company pays out 9 million dollars. Abortion drugs and sterilizations arr much, much more costly!

Have any of you ever noticed that no liberal has ever answered these questions? I ask repeatedly.... tell me why it is moral to force me into debt so that others can have more free stuff? Tell me why it is right and just to force me to pay higher taxes when we could use that money to pay for our own children's medical bills? Why am I evil because I want to keep more of my own money to take care of my own children? No liberal I have ever asked has been able to answer those questions. Not one. Ever. Never mind asking them why it is okay that they force us to do all of  THAT and violate our consciences in the process.

Why should a woman have a sterilization surgery and not pay ANYTHING while I pay $2,000 per kid to have a bone marrow biopsy? Is that paying their "fair share" as Obama likes to run around saying? How is it that our co-pay for a life saving medication that protects my son's kidneys used to be $150 3 years ago and in 2011, the first year Obamacare took effect it went to $283 and this year (2012) it is now $343? Yet women will get birth control FREE -- Pregnancy is not a disease!  What will the co-pay be next year? An arm, leg and $600? Why should women get a medication that doesn't treat a disease on our dime AND on our consciences? Is that paying their fair share?

This, folks, is not the America I grew up in. Let me tell you a bit about why I am so passionate about this great nation and her freedoms.  Perhaps my life story will inspire you in the final stretch of this election--  when you feel you can’t do one more thing to defeat the HHS mandate during this election cycle—remember this great nation and the freedoms our founding fathers fought for, the freedoms that have enabled me to plan protests and write/speak these words.

At the age of 18, I found myself on a bus headed into Ft. Dix for Army Basic Training. As I embarked on this journey, I knew that mine was a journey that could only happen in the United States of America. You see, I came from an abusive, alcoholic, drug ridden family. My brothers were in and out of jail and my childhood was a living hell.  At the age of 15, my brother, David, committed suicide. He was 20. In my early twenties, my brother, Steve, died of a drug overdose. He was 33. The last time I saw my middle brother, Mike, was at David’s funeral in 1983. He was locked up in the Arizona state pen during Steve’s funeral and has been in and out of the pen a total of three times.

On that bus heading into Ft. Dix, I could see my future and it was bright- because I was in the land of the free and the home of the brave – the land where EVERYONE has the opportunity to succeed. I later went through officer candidate school and was blessed to be a part of the military of the greatest nation on earth.   It wasn’t easy. It was a lot of work to break away from the family into which I was born. With freedom, hard work and opportunity, I was able to graduate from college and build a successful life.  I am here today as a witness to the greatness of our nation and her freedoms.
We cannot allow future generations to inherit an America with fewer freedoms than we enjoy today. We must fight so that we continue to be the shining city upon a hill – the light of liberty for the world for generations to come. If we allow our government to violate our consciences and religious freedom right now, what is next?  If we allow the HHS mandate to stand along with the individual mandate, our government has the ability to force us to do anything it wishes without regard to our consciences –

This is not the same America that gave m the opportunity to overcome the obstacles of my youth and succeed. Join with me in the fight against Obamacare, its mandates and restricted freedoms— We must fight so that our God-given freedoms are not restricted by an overreaching government.

Together, we can restore America so that future generations will live in a nation where life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are a reality.

Letter Submitted to the Editor

It'll never get published in our local liberal rag.  It was hard to keep it to 250 words or less.

Letter Submitted to the Editor

by Pattie Curran on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 2:01pm

Many people don’t understand how profoundly Obamacare’s taxes will hurt the middle class.

33 Days to Wear R&R Shirts - Student Gets Kicked Out of Class

A student in Philly was kicked out of class for wearing an R&R shirt.  The teacher even tried to take a marker our to draw on it.  Watch a video and read about it here:  Student Kicked Out of Classroom for Wearing Romney Shirt

After my experience today, I've decided that I am going to wear a Romney/Ryan t-shirt every single day until the election.   I've got 4 and I may have to buy one more.  Let's see how many liberals I can piss off just by wearing my R&R shirts.

Majority of Doctors Continue to Oppose Obamacare

Why is everyone acting like the recent poll is news!? Fox News and Huff Post reported that the majority of physicians in the US oppose Obamacare. Folks, this isn't news. Doctors opposed Obamacare before it was rammed down our throats against our will.

The public continues to favor repeal of this disastrous law. (Oct 1, 2012, 52% of likely voters favor repeal of Obamacare)

Quotes from Fox News: "A new on-line survey by the non-profit The Physicians Foundation, one of the largest doctors surveys ever performed, confirms that over two thirds of physicians are pessimistic about the future of medicine, over 84 percent feel that our profession is in decline, and a majority would not recommend it as a career for their children. (The survey was sent to over 600,000 doctors and over 14,000 responded)."

Huff Post: "In fact, 15 percent of survey respondents said they’ll be switching to the Republican camp this election, with most citing the Affordable Care Act as the reason." I say, Welcome to the Republican Party! Another quote from the article: "The majority of the 3,660 doctors polled in the survey said they also are in favor of repealing and replacing Obama’s signature piece of legislation because it failed to address tort reform, an issue relating regulations surrounding malpractice lawsuits."

March 2012: Doctor's Fear Side Effects of Obamacare "The survey was conducted to unveil physicians’ concerns about health care reform. The Doctors Company, which is the largest insurer of physician and surgeon medical liability in the nation, received more than 5,000 surveys, including all specialties and every region in the country. The results weren’t good for the President’s signature piece of legislation."

Huff and Fox News report on different surveys.  None of this is news. Going all the way back before Obamacare was passed, a majority of doctors and Americans opposed the passage of this law. Here are various links-- some from as far back as 2009.

2009: How Obamacare will affect your doctor  A great article that sums it up.

2009: 65% of Doctors Say No to Obamacare! 45% say they will quit!

2010 "The Physicians Foundation asked 2,400 doctors and American Medical Association members what they thought of the new law; a full 67 percent were against it." Doctors Hate Obamacare

 2009: Obama's Doctor Opposes Obamacare

2009: Poll Disputes Media Claim that most doctors support Obamacare

2009: Editorial Written by a Doctor: Most Physicians Oppose Obamacare Even the Gay Patriots wrote about it here.

2010: Doctor's Protest Obamacare

2010: Senate Doctors Speak Out Against Obamacare

2010: Only 13% of Physicians agree with the AMA on Obamacare

2011 Poll: Doctors Say Obamacare Hurts Medical Care Former Democrat Senator regrets his Obamacare vote.

2011: Doctors and AMA split on Obamacare Doctor Speaks out About the SCOTUS ruling on Obamacare

2011: 94 % House Doctors Voted for Repeal :  "Why would doctors oppose Obamacare? Perhaps it's because, as the recently released National Physicians Survey of nearly 3,000 doctors showed, by a margin of well over 3 to 1, doctors think that during the next five years (in thewake of ObamaCare's passage), the quality of American health care will "deteriorate" (65 percent) rather than "improve" (18 percent). Perhaps it’s because more than 9 out of 10 doctors in that same survey expect Obamacare's "impact" on doctors to be "negative" (78 percent), rather than "positive" (8 percent). Perhaps it's because, due to what appears to be naked political favoritism"

Teacher for 40 Years, Voted for BHO...voting Romney 2012

Congressman Artur Davis - Switched Parties and His Vote

Listen to Artur Davis explain why he switched to the Republican party and why he won't be voting for Obama this election. I especially like how he points out that the Democrats put power over what the American people wanted when they pushed Obamacare through Congress.

Debt, Division and Dishonesty

Jodi C explains why she isn't voting for Obama in 2012. She is a lifelong Democrat and doesn't support Obama. Obama is out of touch.

Why I Changed My Vote Website

It warms my heart to see a video showing people who have changed their votes from Obama and not longer support him.  You can see the video below or at www.whyichangedmyvote.com

Making Liberals Mad in Texas

Last night, I was meeting some long time friends at Panera Bread. I stepped outside to make a phone call and two black men sitting at a table were discussing our Suburban. One of the men stood up and snapped a few pictures of it and said "it doesn't make sense." When my call ended I asked them if they liked my Suburban and asked if he would x out our plates if he posted it online. The look on his face was priceless. It was an opportunity to talk about the HHS mandate, though.

This morning, hubby was at a stop sign and the newspaper guy on the median came up to the window. Hubby rolled it down. The guy asked if he knew why the two American flags he pointed at were at half staff. Then he said it was because Romney was nominated. Hubby didn't say a word. Just rolled up the window. Really!? Are liberals that petty!?

This afternoon, we were flipped off by another classy, articulate liberal as we were going into the grocery store parking lot.

The two black men were having a conversation at a table in public. Had he not taken the liberty of snapping photos, I would not have said anything. I asked him to x out my plates if he posted it online.

The other two liberals!? Wow. Like the lady in Asheville, the paper dude felt he should say something to us. At least his wasn't a lecture. Flip off lady? Just classy.

I'm amazed that people get upset enough they say and do these things. I've seen loads of stickers I don't agree with, yet I've never flipped anyone off or walked up to talk to them. Liberals seem to be so very self-righteous. They just have to set you straight or lecture you. We Republicans would understand the plight of the world if only we would listen to liberals.

We did have a few more positive reactions. One lady in the hotel parking lot put her hands in the air and yelled, "Go Mitt!" Others honked, waved and gave us thumbs up.

Mass in Baton Rouge

Today, we were able to go to Mass at the church where we were married. It was under construction, but is still a special place. We had a few unfriendly faces in the parking lot, but that's okay! I'm still seeing November from our Suburban. As we drove away, we had lots of hands waving and honks. We stopped to eat and watched through the window as a mom and her son took pictures of the back. It really is a lot of fun! Some people get so excited when they see our old Suburban. I like watching them as they honk and wave. We the people are tired of Obama's agenda.

Over lunch, we had a discussion that was similar to one of my blog posts about getting the conversation started. Some people, while they agree with all the stickers, don't think being so open about our views is a good thing. Mainly because they think liberals will damage old Bessie. I think it is worth the risk. It starts the conversation. Some people don't even know what the HHS mandate is. When they see us, they ask. That's a good thing.

Bubba in Alabama

Stopped at a gas station in Alabama, I see Bubba pointing and smiling. I strike up a conversation, he tells me he loves the ride and I asked if I could snap a photo. His friend was on the fence saying he thought Romney was going to take away our guns. I told him about the U.N. Small Arms treaty Obama and Hilary support. I got the conversation started, now I hope he becomes engaged and does his research.

Bubba in Alabama:

Start the Conversation

We received a warm welcome at the Peach stand in South Carolina. The guy working at the stand was a teacher and said he could get in trouble if he took a picture with old Bessie. What a bummer! Maybe that's why our country is so messed up. People are too afraid to get the conversation started. The only way to get this nation back on track is to talk about the issues. Conservatives have been bullied into silence while liberals have no fear. They teach their liberal ideology on our schools and don't think twice about it.

The next exit up, we stopped at a Starbucks. I'm not sure our vehicle was well received! No one said a word. Two men sitting at an outside table drinking coffee gave us all some strange looks, but who knows for sure what they were thinking.

It was a great start to the day. Here are a few people who told us they really liked our ride.

Let's Roll

Before we ever left K'ville, we'd already had people honking. I'm loving free speech right now. I can see November from my Suburban right now.

We met a friend outside the pharmacy, where she gave me an extra magnet for the back. It says,"I know Freedom works!" Sean says we need an American flag to wave. I think he is right and I see modifications ahead.

It's been fun so far. A Marine passes us and gave us a thumbs up. Semper Fi! We've been feeling the love.

Here is a picture of my friend (her blog is called The Mouth from the South) with our Suburban and a close up of the new magnet.

Posting this from a Chick-fil-A where we received a warm welcome from a gentleman with a thumbs up,"Alright! Passed you on the road!" or something close.

Road Trip!

Some of us are heading on a road trip to see a few colleges and visit friends and family.  My oldest has to stay here because he has to work.  He's going to miss out in riding around in the most spectacular Suburban ever to hit the road!  I'm really proud of my oldest.  I was going to go out to buy groceries for him and he said, "No, just give me the money you were going to spend and let me do it myself, I've been checking out all the deals."  What was I thinking?  Of course he can go out and buy the food he needs on his own! He's homeschooled!  ~smile~  ~wink~

As I was getting the Suburban ready for the road trip, hubby said, "You're just going to make people hate us as we are driving around. I replied, "There ain't no hate on the left, brother!"  He then came back with, "Sure, drive it to SEIU headquarters and see if they don't throw bricks through the windows."   But..but... all those liberals who yelled at us, and flipped us off, and came up to us with notes and lectures..... surely they support the right to free speech of all Americans, right?

As you look at this not yet finished piece of art, let me tell you a few things. I wanted it all on there. Hubby only requested the "Rush is Right" sticker, my middle done requested the "Coexist" made out of guns, and my youngest requested "Honk if you're pro-life".   It is going to be a great trip to Texas and Louisiana.  I'm hoping to blog about it and maybe interview people who have reactions (positive or negative) about the Suburban.

Surely, no liberal would get angry over our expression of free speech, right?

Art!

This side only has one..so that S can see out of the window as we drive

Acts Five 29 - Continuous Prayer and Arrests

If you can get to DC, join the Act Five 29 project.

From the Acts Five 29 website:

We Must Obey God Rather Than Men!

The future of religious freedom in America is at risk!
Join us for 72 hours of continuous prayer and arrests at The White House
With the recent Supreme Court ruling affirming Obamacare, the future of religious freedom in America is at risk, and in grave danger of being entirely wiped out. Obamacare will force institutions, churches and individuals to purchase abortion-inducing drugs, and pay for sterilization and abortion in direct opposition to their beliefs, conscience and historic teachings of the Church.
For the first time in our nation’s history, our government is forcing people of faith and conscience to abandon their deeply held values and core beliefs. The President is now “dictating” to Christians how they are to live their faith. The government is replacing the teachings of Scripture, the Church, and our conscience, demanding that we bow down before their dictates.
If the Christian community does not take a stand and send a powerful message to President Obama that we “must obey God rather than man,” and we “will never comply” with immoral and unjust government mandates that violate our faith — religious freedom and the First Amendment will be trampled before our very eyes.
We cannot simply stand and watch while our religious freedoms are stripped away!
Beginning at 5:00 p.m. on September 29, 2012 we will engage in 72 hours of continuous prayer and arrests in front of the White House. We will prayerfully and peacefully assemble and the only grounds for arrest will be that our location is often a “restricted” zone for free-speech, so our defiance of the HHS Mandate will be taken as unprotected speech.
This will be a two-fold witness. First, we will be a prophetic witness to those within the Church. We will demonstrate with our lives and personal freedom what the future for the church in America will be if the church does not rise in opposition to the ungodly Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate.
We will be a prophetic witness to the Church, declaring: “If they outlaw your faith, the faithful become outlaws.” We will be arrested as an act of civil disobedience, in Godly obedience, as a warning to the church: Stand against this mandate now, join us in Washington, make your voice heard! We must obey God rather than man or soon jail may be the only option.
The Supreme Court has declared Obamacare constitutional
but the Supreme Court did not and cannot declare it right!
The second part of our witness is to those in government: We are a nation ruled by those we choose by our votes. So we are sending those in elected office a warning: you hold office because we chose you — and we will not comply! We will not pay the $1 monthly abortion surcharge, we will not pay for abortion-inducing drugs and other unconscionable practices demanded of us through the HHS mandate, and we will not surrender our freedoms as delineated in the Declaration and our Constitution.
And we will go to jail before we do.
Today our arrests will be voluntary, a living witness to the church and to the government — tomorrow arrest may be the only option if we are unwilling to pay to have someone’s child murdered.
Please join with us as we send a powerful message to those within the church and to our elected officials through peaceful civil disobedience! Just as MLK was arrested for the rights of his fellow men, so we will stand. This will be 72 hours of continuous prayer and arrests in front of the White House! This moment is fraught with an unprecedented “urgency of the hour”; thus, we are issuing a national call for Christians, and all our fellow Americans of whatever creed, to come to the White House and be part of this prayerful, peaceful, and prophetic witness for life and justice: ActsFive29.
Join us September 29 through October 2, 2012 as we humbly and boldly lay down our lives and our freedom so that future generations will have that freedom, and the liberty to practice their faith.

Clinging to my Guns and Religion

We spent last week at the hospital for the boys bone marrow biopsies. On the day of the biopsies, I wore my NRA Whittington Center shirt. Priceless, I know.

S took a bit longer to wake up from the anesthesia, so I had time to talk with the recovery nurses.  Two of them were conservative, or so it seemed.  I thought it was funny that one nurse told me I was the stereotypical person from the Bible Belt, clinging to my guns and religion. Why yes, yes I am. On the way to the car, he cautioned me that most people at the hospital are liberal and said I should be careful.

I'm not a closet conservative. Like I've said in my earlier posts, we need to be open about what we believe and let people know conservatives are normal, everyday people.  I'm fully aware that most hospital workers are liberals.  I don't care.  I have the right to wear my NRA shirt and talk about my values.  I can pray all I want at the hospital.  We prayed when there was difficulty getting a line in on J, we prayed on the way to the hospital.  We listened to a Catholic priest rap.  I don't check my values at the hospital door.

I had a conversation with various people.  I was surprised that there were people who felt I should turn the nurse in for saying what he did.  Who cares if he thinks I am the stereotypical Bible thumping, gun toting southerner?  Who cares if he actually said what he did?  I agree with him.  I am.  Yet, even if I didn't agree with his assessment, I wouldn't report him.  Have we really gotten to that point in this country?  No one can ever speak their mind? The first amendment and the rest of the Bill of Rights don't guarantee that we will never be offended.  The Bill of Rights doesn't state that the only way people are free to speak is if they speak in agreement with you.  Free speech doesn't work that way. Though the politically correct Nazis would have you believe it DOES work that way.

I don't want people to be afraid to speak their minds around me. I don't want to live in a country where everyone must be politically correct, either. We have the God-given right to form our own opinions and we have a God-given right to speak about those opinions.  I actually think it is rather funny that the nurse pegged me so quickly.  I wear my conservatism on my sleeve, quite literally.
